BT Broadband/Fibre woes continue as services go down again

July 21, 2016

For the second day running, BT Broadband and Plusnet customers have been left without internet services.

A major outage, blamed on ‘power issues at a partner site in London’ took down the network yesterday morning and spread across the UK, from London to Leeds, Liverpool and Bristol. Service was restored by the afternoon.

But it appears BT Broadband’s woes are continuing this morning after the official Twitter handle tweeted: “Sorry if you’re unable to access some websites this morning on BT Broadband, we’re investigating the cause and will update you all soon.”

A live outage map on DownDetector shows reports coming in from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Milton Keynes, Leeds, Nottingham, Bristol, Liverpool, and Leicester. There are also problems on Plusnet and Sky. Plusnet’s Twitter handle posted the same tweet as BT.

Problems began at 06:21am BST and there was a spike in reports, with almost 2,300 customers complaining, shortly after.

BT additionally offers a service status page on its site where people can check if they are still affected by the outage.
